Surviving Club Soccer. A Parent’s Journey is a straightforward, insightful guide to what the club soccer subculture is really like for players and their families, from kindergarten to college. It answers the most common questions, like
•If my child joins or is recruited at an early age, what kind of commitment am I looking at over the next decade?
•How much time will my child be committing? What about the family?
•How much money will we spend and on what?
•Do kids really get cut?
•What do I look for when selecting a club and team?
•What and where are regionals?
•What are the chances of getting a college scholarship?
•How will club soccer benefit my child in the long run?
This well-organized narrative of a twelve-year journey was written by a working mother of three whose youngest child played club soccer from kindergarten through Division 1 college. Concurrently, as co-founder of her own marketing agency, she negotiated and ran multi-million dollar campaigns for national brands that sponsored Major League Soccer, the Mexican National Team, state soccer associations, leagues, tournaments, and local clubs.
With this experience, she developed a working knowledge of the entire process of amateur and professional soccer that honed her unique and personal perspective on how America’s youth is fueling the business of soccer. This unique perspective and experience is translated into core topics that will help all club soccer families set expectations

Surviving Club Soccer A Parent Journey eBook Shari Nomady Yvette Brown Brittany Nomady
Overall, this is a great outline of what playing club soccer means to a player and their families. I recommend this book for families considering the club soccer world at the academy level. Parents of younger academy players or players moving from rec teams to academy will greatly benefit from reading this book before making a commitment to a team and a club. This book is easy to read and well written. Although not much detailed information is provided about high school soccer or how technology has changed the way college recruiting is done. It would have been nice to read about how a player today need a recruiting profile, highlight videos, figure out what soccer division levels is right for them, academics and volunteer work, etc. perhaps that would be a great topic for the next book!

Surviving Club Soccer A Parent Journey eBook Shari Nomady Yvette Brown Brittany Nomady Reviews
Overall great overview and very informative for those thinking to do club soccer. Only side note is the costs aren't as high as summarized for youngers.
Great read for any first time soccer parent for the in and outs for parents
I've been the TA for my daughter's club soccer team for the past 4 years, and I learned a great deal after reading this book. It is truly and honestly written, and it gives valuable advises about the reality of Club Soccer and its expectations. The book will give the reader a simple but vivid view of the Club Soccer journey.
Must read. Parents need this book to put club soccer in perspective. We just started this year and the words relate to or experience.
This is an accurate story about club soccer life. I have lived a lot of it and like they say if you enjoy it it's worth the time and money you spend.
A good snapshot of what the youth club soccer experience can be like. The player's perspective is very powerful. There are many people that will tell you how it is, but they are in it in the here and now. It is good to hear the voice of a parent and player who have been through the ups and downs of club soccer and four years of college soccer and to hear what that experience actually meant to that parent and player looking back.
A short read, but a good intro to some of the ups and downs in the world of club soccer. If you're looking for something a little more in-depth (and critical and researched), I highly recommend "Coaching Outside the Box Changing the Mindset in Youth Soccer"
